Brother Andrew went to be with the Lord

"We only really believe what we're willing to die for."
BROTHER ANDREW That quotation from Brother Andrew was spot on, and I believe it is an example of the way he lived his life for the Lord. Nevertheless, I think it necessary to add this statement, since my association with Open Doors this past year has strengthened my resolve and belief that 'no one should say that he is willing to die for the Lord if he is not first willing to live for the Lord.' I am now what some might consider a 'grumpy old man', having just turned 72 a few days ago, Sep.26. It wasn't until about October of last year, when I did an online search for 'missions' organizations' and Open Doors was at the top of my search list. Though I seem to recall having heard of an organization Open Doors way back in the 1950's and 60's, when I was growing up in an Independent Baptist church, that time about a year ago was actually the first time I really got what it was that I should have been involved with years ago. But until more recent years, though I'd had a call for missions' work, there were always the naysayers, often well-meaning but ignorant, who would do or say whatever they could to discourage me. And the worst of it was that some of those same people, often friends and family, were the very ones who should have been encouraging instead of discouraging. But now I can see the life and work of Brother Andrew and Open Doors, as yet another shining example of how one is never too young, too old, or too anything else...to do what God has placed him/her on Earth to do. I haven't always 'walked the straight and narrow' since becoming a follower of Christ way back in the summer of 1959, but I know this, that I can finish well, not looking back at past failures but maybe for brief moments, never dwelling on those failures but learning and moving forward. I can't go back for 'do-overs' but I can still finish well. As the Apostle Paul said, " I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."--Philippians 3:14 KJV.
